Mini MUN is now able to get out of his cot, open his door, open the stair gate, get down the stairs and unlock the front and back doors if the keys are in them. Luckily he does not have the dexterity to get the keys in as the locks are quite fiddly. The only things we have to stop him wandering off at night when we are sleeping is that he cannot unlock the porch door or the back gate and we always take the front and back door keys out and put them where he cannot reach them.

This still freaks Mrs MUN out in case somehow he gets out.

This news story is going to worry her even more as she imagines the various things that might have happened.

I don't find that imbibing myself with all the details of such news items is particularly conducive to my having a good day.

I don't recall any mention of the family's religion or faith, just the memorial service at a local church, so are you assuming that as they have a foreign surname they must subscribe to this abhorrent practice ?

An honor killing is the murder of one member of a family or social group,by other members of the same group because they perceive that the victim has “brought shame or dishonor upon the family or community”.
The usual reasons for this perception usually relate to things such as refusing to enter an arranged marriage, being in a relationship that is disapproved by their relatives, having sex outside marriage, becoming the victim of rape, dressing in ways which are deemed inappropriate, or being (or suspected of being) gay.

Its stupider than that as the child is a three year old boy.

I'm sure the story will come out soon and sadly I'm sure some of it will be horrific but don't attach racial stereotypes on what is probably just a story of ill-treatment.

No. As I stated in my previous post, I didn't know the child was 3 years old. Honour killings aside, there have been cases of young children being killed as a direct result of the culture into which they are born. Victoria Climbie ring any bells?

No but I'm hearing Baby P, social workers etc.

Please forgive me for having just the smallest hunch that there will be an element of social workers putting their pc sensibilities before the welfare of the child.
