Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson -

I think the limit was a pretty smart move. A bit socialist, a bit political, but smart.
They avoid accusations of helping the rich get richer, they were so oversubscribed that they don't have to worry about the demand not being there, they can trump handing the Mail over to "the people" (due to a large number of small investors) rather than the elite.
Those crying foul seem bitter that they can't pull further ahead of those who don't have thousands in disposable wealth. If you can afford to drop 10k plus on this then you are already comparatively very well off, now the government can talk about helping "the hard working man in the street".
This was a public sell off. In my mind there is some moral justification in making this a "social" sale rather than purely commercial. Yes, the price could have been higher, but if justifiable then I bet there would have been the same levels of demand if the minimum investment were left at £750.
Sucks to be Red Sauce though - didn't he cancel his £8k order at the last minute to raise it to over £10k?Comment
