IBM own less than 5% of the stock in Lenovo. They might see a small benefit on their stocks, but I doubt whether 100% of any commission Lenovo might make from the deal would be passed on to shareholders.

So IBM did not add Pokki, and will not take a slice of the commission, although they may see a small benefit from it.

There is just one good thing on Windows 8 Pro - it supports up to 512 GB of RAM rather than puny 192 GB in Win 7 Pro.

A bit snappier in RDP also.

      Everything else is tulip

I think if you use Classic Shell to get the start menu back it is a pretty good OS. Trouble is that all development effort went to the metro balls up and I never use that. Which means that I never use an app either, kind of destroys the vision? Ah well, not my problem...

          Time to get a Mac.

Tried windaz 8 on my retina mbp using parallels. Loads up in about 8 seconds. Despite my computer being a intel something or other ivybridge it was trying to burn a hole through the table.

I like the ribbon interface in explorer, I have to say. I wouldn't mind that added to W7.

I used it briefly yesterday. Went to the desktop, installed a program, and then thought "where the **** is it?". Then I remembered "ahh yes, it'll have gone into that Metro tulip", and spent another few minutes trying to remember how to get back to it to find the desktop program I'd just installed.

Or why not just use Windows 7?

I recently bought a Dell windows 8 laptop for my Dad. After 3 days of struggling with it I sent it back and got a full refund.

Windows 8 is a defective product in my opinion. Not fit for purpose.

Dell lost a lifelong customer over that.
