Yes. And the mouse over to get the floating menu on the right hand side (the one with search etc) is a total nightmare. May be something to do with my set up but the menu appears on the mouse over about 2 times out of 10.

^ you do realise that to search from the metro interface you just need to start typing? I don't miss the Start button at all, I remember how it confused everyone when it was introduced in Win95. Just learn to use the Windows button on the keyboard instead of clicking on the screen. Windows+d takes you to the desktop, windows on it's own takes you to metro. Set up your laptop to hibernate when you close the lid and shutdown when you press the power button.

When I bought my MacBook pro, it took my a while to get used to the OS but I didn't start posting on forums about how crap it was. So take a little time to get used to win 8.

I've got a Helix and I develop in desktop mode, with the start menu installed, its fine. When I want to use it as a tablet I will use the modern UI.

It seems really straightforward to me and some of the gestures are excellent, closing apps swipe down, swipe up for properties etc.

The mail app is my pet hate, so slow starting up. Otherwise, it's a pretty good OS.
Pokki introduces another layer of crapware and it's own "app" marketplace

Use startisback. It gives you a decent start menu a al windows 7 and allows you to customise the interface and hot corners.
I haven't seen the metro interface since the first day I powered my Windows 8 laptop up

A layer of crapware, does that apply to any program you install or specifically this software?

Pokki is better than the standard Win7 start menu in my opinion, the search is better and the ability to add your favourites files or programs is a neat touch. I understand Lenovo will be installing this as standard on their win8 machines. You don't have to use their "app" store and in settings you can tell it not to include apps from their store in your searches.

Well done for managing to avoid the modern ui, for someone like me that has a tablet and laptop with touch enabled it's quite useful.

I doubt very much that IBM have added it for the benefit of Pokki, they will be getting a slice of then commission from the app store

I doubt very much that IBM would see any commission at all from this.

                  20% of FA?
You can see it if you look close enough

You aren't required to use the app store to use Pokki. I mentioned Lenovo (IBM?) to give the software some credibility and to get over the issue of malware.

Do you mean Lenovo will get 20% or IBM?
