+1. There's many reasons why I won't give $ky/Murdoch any money, this is one of them.

Great memories of 2005 and going home early from work to watch it.

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

Bloody hell, something about these Ashes tests, for once something that lives up the the hype. The Sultan of Swing Jimmy Anderson.

Gutted there's no Edgbaston test (why?) the In-Laws live over the road from it.

I had tickets for the Durham test when it was first announced. Then they changed the dates of it, so I'll miss it

He's the Sultan of Swing, not the Burnley Express.

It's a shame about the first half of his test career really, when he was more like the Sultan of Spray. It means his overall stats won't be nearly as good as the likes of Trueman. People in future will always look at the numbers and conclude he wasn't as good as X, Y and Z because his average and strike rate per game were significantly worse. Yet for the past couple of years he's been bowling better than any other English seamer I can remember.

                Whinging Aussies

The definition of hell: waking up in the early hours of Monday morning, curled in the foetal position on the lounge and shivering from the cold, to giddy English cricketers prancing about and hugging each other like they've just won Powerball.

If this is how the next five weeks of Ashes cricket will be, with Australia bravely coming so close to victory in spite of itself, tough times are ahead.

Of course it was going to come down to a DRS decision. Of course it was going to come off a half-hearted appeal from both English bowler and keeper. Of course it was going to be an inside edge about as thick as a Tally Ho paper. Of course there was going to be infinite doubt about whether it was out. Of course the decision would go against Australia.

Technology has been introduced to a range of sports to avoid The Howler, but this match has illuminated the simple fact that it often unearths more problems and riddles than it solves.

                Then there is Aleem Dar.

His performance in the past five days was so telling it would not surprise if Wills and Kate name their first born after him.

They've not had as much practice at losing as the Scots...

They might not have won, but at least they got on the podium for coming second!
