Just use the timesheet system FFS. You need to learn to be seen as easy to work with, not a PITA

unless within your contract it has anything about complying with clients rules around timesheet submission then you should not need to do it but.....

also should not affect IR35 - you are just logging the hours you do - the problem will be if said manager then tries to tell you what hours exactly to do

but ultimately do the needful and suck it up dude.

If he is using as a tracker and everyone has to use it, contractors & permies then it is a tool to use just as he might direct you to use word instead of some other processor. With that argument you will be fine.

They might try and argue client direction but if it is a method the client uses to gather data around project budget and man hours then it is part and parcel of the work at that client. Not using it would mean the client cannot fulfil the project. It's a fine line but one that could be easily argued in my mind.

For clarity :

This is not an official timesheet system.
It was rolled out by dickhead without any announcement.
The head of IT has said to ignore it.
4 contractors have used it, as they worked for him.
I previously worked for another guy, dickhead tried to make me use it and got promptly told to feck off by the head of IT and my PM.
There is absolutely nothing in my contract about it.
He has no right to withhold my timesheet because of this and is just being a dick.
He is a company renowned dickhead that has cost the company talent (4 times in the past) and this is becoming increasingly recognised.
I asked him to sign my timesheet so I could get my invoice paid, and asked him to meet with me on Monday to go through the recent months work (or lack of) and define what job numbers I should record my time against (he refused).

I have previous with this guy, and had to dig one of his projects out of the tulipe before Christmas as he ignored my warnings.

He is a typical megalomaniac arsehole that wants cap doffers and sycophants.

One gig I did years ago required filling in ClientCo's cobbled together timesheet app that needed tons of detail, think what you did each hour

I was spending 40% of every day filling this out which is hardly productive and the tasks I should have been tackling were building up and I was getting behind. Eventually they assigned a wee girl to do this for me which freed me up to do what I was hired to do, she just made up the same crap I was doing.

That gig lasted till the company went tits up nine months later, wonder why that was.
