    Re: ScotsPine, please explain

paco that is so flawed it is hardly worth replying to.
Would you care to explain why please?

You seem to take it as read that if there was no moderation the board would deteriorate to the levels of cc.net. In reality the board is in fact very lightly moderated and seems to get along just fine, and I would argue that your occasional sanctimonious interference does little more than cause resentment and prompt arguments such as the one we are currently having.

As has been stated, we are mostly reasonable and intelligent people around here and can manage without a headmaster telling us off for indulging in a little schoolboy humour.

        c) A moderator

        Or in Scotspine's case..............

That is not acceptable. But wishing someone's death* is clearly within the line drawn. That just reminds me of all arguments against Viz and the likes, while TV have some diseducational, disturbing and offensive programs that nobody disagrees with.

            *as personally happened already here

Interesting that this point and others in a similar vein have been ignored.

I guess we can conclude: insults, threats and bullying are fine. Knockers are well out (or not, as the case may be).

Don't knock ScotsPine, he's the moderator.

I think he does a good job.

Threaded, no one is knocking ScotsPine personally. Simply, as intelligent, reasoned adults, we are interested in discussing issues and trying to find a common ground. At the very least, we are interested in understanding the reasons behind certain decisions.

Or do you advocate a culture in which we silently accept any decision without question? ScotsPine himself stated that he disagrees with simply going with the flow “whatever the context”. If that’s true, it cuts both ways, and he should expect people to question and even challenge his decisions. Or perhaps the ‘owners’ of this board should simply ban anyone who questions a decision and make this board by invitation only. That would remove all the trouble-makers like me who clearly aren’t welcome.
