Astonishingly, I'm going to suggest she reads an article in the Mail: How to be an App millionaire | Mail Online

She might try submitting the idea to one of those companies that do the development and pay royalties. Alternatively, she could have a go with Google's app creator thingy for Android - no programming required.

Or alternatively, you could tell her not to hedge all her bets with a proprietary device or OS, and write a web app that's responsive to whatever browser/screen real estate is available. Depends what the idea is.

Eg. Just finished a site for a major railco - if you navigate to it using a mobile it not only scales down elegantly, but cuts out all the unnecessary functionality & info and orders the markup according to different use-cases - across BB, iOS, Winmo7 etc.

I released one about 6 weeks ago and not a single sale yet. Mind you, identifying insects and things was never going to be a best seller. Maybe I should change the insect picturess to celebrity pictures.

Ooo. Ooo. What's it called? We needed something the otherday for a really odd insect in the garden. I thought it was a Camberley beatle, but the missus reckoned a stag?

Tell her it's a great idea. Buy her a PRINCE2 manual and tell her it's not possible to do this kind of programming without a Full Business Case and PID.

My personal opinion is that however many android handsets there are in the world, the iphone is where the money is, and it's nothing to do with the device, or Apple's app store quality control. It's like sky vs cable TV years ago, apple got in there and got all the best customers i.e. the ones who will spend a decent amount, keep spending, stay loyal, and tell all their friends how great something is. Googleists expect everything for free.

I say this as the owner of several android phones.
