I was told many years ago, that it was such a common problem for the old style Coke bottles to get stuck inside, that a special device was issued to all the USA casualty departments that safely cut the bottom off the bottle, thereby releasing the vacuum and so allowing removal of the bottle.

The older I get, the more I believe this story.

Well they used to say "Things go better with Coca-Cola, things go better with Coke!"
Hadn't realised just what those "things" were until now.
