            Scary as it is, I write software used to train physicians. If you ever have a non-invasive heart operation, it's possible the doctor practised on something I developed. Is that enough motivation to stay of the cheeseburgers?

                Could be and there's a precedent within the NHS. I dunno if it's still the same but in the 1980s hospital consultants were encouraged to do research out of NHS funds and still claim the IP themselves. It was seen as a cost effective way of advancing research.
