The libs have just been given a massive tax break for the lowest paid and she is attacking the libs for joining the conservatives.

What fecking planet is she on?

18->28% on CGT seems a big jump. But it's not a tax I've ever paid, who is affected? CGT applies to profit when you sell your house IIRC, but always or only if you're seen as moving frequently to make money?

I think the budget was fair enough under the circumstances. The reduction in CT is a plus point. The increase in VAT could mean the FRS works in our favour, but I haven't crunched the numbers.

Harriet Harman I'm sure is suffering from PMT. Notwithstanding the fact that any rational person just cannot take financial advice from any member of New Labour, she seems slightly unhinged today.

        Fair do's...

Nope, CGT doesn't apply on your main home.

It applies to things like disposal of shares and other assets. Ordinary folk won't be affected so much as you get a £10k allowance anyway.

            Digital Switchover under-spend

So why is part of my TV licence going to help Jo Bloggs in the middle of some god forsaken moor get his 20mb broadband up and running.

TV Licence, just another f'ing tax really.

            LANDLINE DUTY:

"I am happy to be able to abolish this new duty before it is even introduced. Instead, we will support private broadband investment, including to rural areas, in part with funding from the Digital Switchover under-spend within the TV Licence Fee."

              Shortly?

The BBC ticker mentioned an Employers NI break for those setting up small businesses outside The Stinking Hole and The (stinky) South East, but how on earth do they plan to adminsiter and police that?
