Please can someone explain to me how they would plan to stop migration?

Please provide an indication of economic costs AND which aspects of liberty and the law would have to be 'adjusted' to stop migration.

No. I'm pointing out that previous governments of the UK and other countries in western Europe encouraged people to get up and go out looking for work. Now we are faced with lots of people doing precisely that, at the same time as we have lots of other people sitting around on benefits. All the while, people complain about immigration. Immigrants aren't the problem; they're the ones with the balls and the initiative to get up and go looking for a future. The problem is the lazy inbred yokels who think they have a divine right to welfare benefits AND a divine right to stop other people coming and taking the jobs they're too f**king lazy and useless to do. Oh yes, and those immigrants need houses and hospitals and schools too. Big surprise!

You can use that argument when we have relative full employment (i.e. all the people who want to work are working) but it's pretty tough on the low skilled who want to work when they find themselves competing on artificially low wages due to cheap migrant labour.

It's a real double blow when the indigenous person is struggling to keep up with a mortgage they were encouraged to take out whilst migrants are housed in rented accommodation, it's just not on to say they are all just feckless and lazy.

That would suggest that you need to give the immigrants the same responsibilities, rights and employment protection as local workers, so as to make them cost just as much and level the playing field. but to do that you need to stop seeing people as 'foreigners' and just treat them like anyone else that's looking for a job.

And Conservative would have done what different exactly? Closed the doors, discouraged multiculturlism, kept laws to be biased against immigrants? This is exactly what I mean when people put up a post that has one objective and that is to slate the encumbant party without even thinking how their choice would do it any differently. Poor argument.

Please point out a country that are NOT struggling to control this type of thing.. Can't.. thats odd. Not ALL of them can have a useless government. Perhaps, just perhaps this is a problem that is going to be a headache for whoever comes in due to globalisation and factors out of our control....

Britain will always be attractive because English is the most commonly spoken and taught 'second language' in the world. Maybe if everyone starts speaking Gaelic less people would come, but Gaelic is so difficult even the Gaelic peoples make a hash of it.

It doesn't stop the English from immigrating to the north of Scotland in IMHO excessive numbers.

Believe me it isn't MY precious Labour party. I am as ****ed off with them as I am with the whole political thing. I try and use the term 'current party' to make that point. I am sure at the end of the last conservative term all the same pointless arguments were leveled against them as well.

You would have 'hoped' that Labour would have done it as well and they didn't. There is a lesson there. As bad as a party is total and pure incompetence is not something you can accuse them of. ALL parties promise and fail in our opinions. In my mind no one party is any better than the other so these witch hunts are pointless.

How can I make excuses for any one political party when it comes to global immigration? Especially when most the laws are now out of our hands? Try telling Europe we don't want to embrace multiculturlism. They will have a fit!!!

There is only one person in this discussion being blinded by their precious party and it certainly isn't me.

Yes that would be a start, give them a house with a £180k bill and see if they can make the economics work on £5.73 an hour.

I don't know. I know "too many" when I see it: the local economy and culture are changed beyond recognition into the economy and culture of the incomers.

The census shows the towns and villages of the North-West coast having over one-third of the population born outside Scotland; 38% in Lochcarron, for example. You could spend a week in one of those places and not hear an accent that wasn't English.

That is too many immigrants.
