Unfortunately this just isn't the case obviously.

I would be very interested to know the in's and out's about this Tier1 thing and at what point does it become abuse. I also have seen Tech M guys around but don't know how to tell if they are falling foul of the law to report them.

Are there any tips on what I should be looking for? If I talk to the guys and they say they have worked on mulitple contracts? Or have been here for over x many years?

        Advice please!

I sent a message to my MP, I'd suggest you do the same.

Of course, learning the language and earning UK salary rates contribute to the points required to gain a Tier 1 visa ....

Wasn't this in the news recently? A Tory MP said it was disgraceful and Labour said it was really great.

After the election, if the Conservatives win, the roles will be reversed.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

The introduction of the so called "HSMP" which was then revised to "Tier1" has been the biggest farce I have known.

It used to be that if a company could not recruit a skilled worker it would go abroad and hire and then file a work permit application. This work permit was for this company only and if you lost that job you went home.

Somebody from the govt decided that this was being abused and needed a revision.

HSMP was introduced which in theory was so highly skilled workers could come here. The real target were skilled doctors and scientists. However, with this visa you could come in to UK with no job and join any company and flit from one job to another.

Thousands from India have streamed in holding this visa, they will take up any job to sustain themselves. Wages have been driven lower. I have had HSMP applicants come into my office for an interview asking 18K salary.

The door for fraud has also been opened up. Google "UniVisa". Even sales men are coming in claiming to be highly skilled. How ?

The idea was that with HSMP a company can't abuse person with low salary because they can move to another rather than fear to lose visa and get deported. HSMP was correct program, very difficult to get in from start because it required minimum of £40k salary if you are already in the UK, not that easy outside London.

Later they relaxed it big time and poor checks were made so lots of people got in thus fecking up otherwise good idea.
