Buy a Henry , reliable sturdy cheap and go on for ever , you can even have a hetty if you want a female vac , or a george if you want a wet / dry one.
British made as well unlike Dyson which is mostly manufactured in China and last about a year if your luckyWarning unicorn meat may give you hallucinationsComment

Gone through 2 - bits break and fixing it was too expensive. They are very loud.
Plus the cleaner refused to use the second one. I thought she was just moaning, but then tried to use it - the b****y hose kinks every time you move, which stops any suction, so you have to then unkink (?) it.
Now have a Miele. Has a bag but works.Comment

+1. Also as required the cyclone chambers (found a "how to" guide on line) as this makes a big difference. I had a local shop who replace bits that broke. 6 years good service.Originally posted by vetran View Postwash the filters regularlyComment

Clearly with Dysons being suceptible (sp?) to so much wear and tear, Mrs PL is not using ours anywhere near enough.
How do I bring this subject up without having to be put on pot noodle rations for the coming weeks?
