    Interesting things about Austria:

Although a native speaker of German, Arnold Schwarzenegger does not perform his own voice in the German versions of his films, Germans think Austrians all sound like country bumpkins.

Last season maybe. A friend went to Jackson Hole this year and he got less snow than London.

          Hurrah finally a skiing thread!!!

Went out to La Tania in January with my spanking new Volkls. That was awesome. Got right over to the far side of Val Thorens this year and it dumped then cleared almost every day.

Off out to La Rosiere over Easter. Went there last year and that was fab too. It's very high which means great snow late in the season and it's virtually deserted as many people prefer the more fashionable resorts of Val, Tignes and Le Arcs.

I've skiied In Japan a fair bit, and a couple of times in the US (Tahoe), and am *finally* getting to go skiing in Europe, also Austria, St Anton. It'll be interesting to see if it compares. The Japanese resorts are expensive, crowded, and full of kids with £2000-quid's worth of kit.

Anyone else been to St Anton and has recommendations?

That's cos the Japanese economy has been fooked with deflation for the last 15 years.

Japan is on my list as one of next years skiing destinations after I picked up a promo DVD in my local skiing shop which featured it. I haven't done much research yet but any advice up front on the good resorts you could share would be useful?

snow was good but could be doing with a bit more now as it was going green.brown in places.
