Like most places, getting of the estate was fun, then once on to the main road it was a boring usual drive to clientcoPoliticians are wonderfull people, as long as they stay away from things they don't understand, like working for a living!Comment

I remember the last time it took place in 1997 well - I lived there from Nov 1996 to 1999 and the 96/97 winter was the coldest they had had for years (I remember it being -17 in Amsterdam over Xmas, although I think it warmed up a bit by January).
I was amazed at the amount of excitement the event generated - the Dutch people I worked with couldn't stop talking about it! Hope it takes place this year!Comment

A Dutch colleague here reckons it may be on: ice needs to be 15cm, it's already 12cm.Originally posted by TheGaffer View PostI remember the last time it took place in 1997 well - I lived there from Nov 1996 to 1999 and the 96/97 winter was the coldest they had had for years (I remember it being -17 in Amsterdam over Xmas, although I think it warmed up a bit by January).

He also remembers 1963: the whole Ijsselmeer froze over, and he skated all the way across it......Comment

Took the train through NL on the 1st and there where a lot of people skating around on irrigation channels and some (deliberately) flooded fields. Looked like excellent fun.Originally posted by expat View PostA Dutch colleague here reckons it may be on: ice needs to be 15cm, it's already 12cm.
