I could well be on the bench during january

Perfect time for me to catch up on PS3, movies, plan B etc...

Not even 24 hours after receiving the bench warning my wife has gone and invited her parents to stay over for a couple of weeks

oh dear, that's actually worse news than finding out your benched..

sincere commiserations SC

What's going on with you contractors Jan is a whole 2 months ahead, many would think a 2 months contract is OK.

Also anything could happen in the next 2 months, requirements change, testing fails, new project, or old project that require second phase..... if not in the same place in other places... so what if you stay off work during Jan???

Oh are your in-laws arriving while you are on the bench?

Yep - he'll be sharing the leftover mince pies and the day time telly with the in-laws... :laugh

As I said, Jan is a looooong way ahead, something may happen .... hmmm may be you can plan for something to happen to prevent them from coming over :D ??
