A distant cousin of futurewife (tenuous I know) runs the Aston Villa youth program.

He reckons out of 200 kids (at age 11/12) they *might* get one premiership player and 3-5 lower division players.

I guess by the time they get to the youth cup, they could all be pro/semi-pro - it just depends at what level.

I'm thinking from a Tolkein angle.

All but three in citys case and two of those are Northern Irish.Since our last final when time you beat us two years ago Johnson, Richards, Ireland, Sturridge and Logan have all broken through. If we get another group like that making the grade I'll be very happy. Certainlt Weiss is ready now and I hope sven throws him in.

Chelskie on the other hand are a joke, 2 english players in the whole team and hand picked players all round the globe SIGNED for a lot of money....

The back/back Liverpool FA Youth cup team was made up of 8/9 English lads, mainly local lads and they reckon only a couple could make it to the reserves with a slim chance of getting premier experience.

A few were offered pro contracts

Thats totally true the odds of making it are slim, I was at school with two current premiership footballers and there were lads we played with on a Saturday who at the age of 13/14 were as good as these players yet they are off the footballing radar now.

Even last night I'd say 1 maybe 2 COULD have a future at City 2/3 others will make some kind of a living from the game, 4/5 will go semi pro and the rest will be playing parkfootball.....It's sad but true.
