The ability for the OS handle multiple and virtual desktops is in windows
The ability for the USER to work with multiple and virtual desktops is NOT in windows.
The powertoys addin is carp
Virtual Desktop Toolbox is much better, switching between desktops can be done with shortcut keys or mouse hot zones or manually selecting the desktop from a tool bar tray popup
With VDT you can also specify preconfigured desktops with the login and the apps you want to run when the desktop is initialised

I see. It's been a while since I had an XP box to play with (bank PCs are usually locked down) but the point still stands that OS X comes ready to play out of the box.Originally posted by Spacecadet View PostThe ability for the OS handle multiple and virtual desktops is in windows

This is a pointless argument these days, Macs are now Intel based so with bootcamp you can run XP or Vista and OS X (dual boot) so you get the best of both worlds. Also, on the PC side of things you can run OS X if you want to using PearPC.
The arguments here seem to really be XP vs OS X (not PC vs Mac). The only difference in the hardware these days is the design of the hardware itself, which anyone with an ounce of style and taste would know Apple do indeed win at, with Sony coming a close second.
By the way, it's pronounced 'OS Ten', the X is a roman numeral, it followed Mac OS 9. Really gets my goat when people pronounce it 'OS ex'.

Funny, people simply argue that Macs are easy to use and they prefer to use them for certain jobs and the hordes appear brandishing knives and clubs.Comment

As much of a mac evangelist as I am (not yet a zealot!) this is just plain wrong.
Unless you see the little padlock (as with most browsers) anybody can see what you're sending if they are sniffing your packets - ooo err missus."See, you think I give a tulip. Wrong. In fact, while you talk, I'm thinking; How can I give less of a tulip? That's why I look interested."Comment
