What is the dumbest agent you've come up against.

This is mine. First of all I live in Chester. This lass rung up and asked if I would commute to Manchester, I said no that was a bit too far (wasn't too desperate at that point). She then asked if I would commute to Surrey!!!!!! I said no, so she asked about Northern Ireland!!

WTF?

Most agents have no idea of geography.

I remember going into an agent's office and seeing a big map of London yet the agent couldn't work out when I stated I lived in West London (don't now) that Heathrow wouldn't be hard to get to.

And Bagpuss some of us Londoners have travelled. Never been to Watford though but been to Norwich, Chester (lovely place), Liverpool (dump) etc.

Some agents seem to be obsessed with permy roles at the mo. Had a conversation the other day that went something like:

Agent "How much would you want for a perm role"
Me "I'm not realy looking for perm roles right now"
A "How much would it take to tempt you?"
Me "I don't know really, I don't know the perm market so don't know what to expect, but as I said, I'm not really interested"
A "OK well I think xyz client said they might have an appropriate contract coming up soon"
Me "Great"
A "What kind of money would you want for a perm role there?"

ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I just say if they'll pay me the same as the going contract rate then they can employ me on a permanent basis if they prefer.

Done that before and was told that a permanent role would never pay what a contract role does...... so why are you calling me??

Just had a call from one. Bear in mind that my CV says contract, minimum £450 per day, London only and that I live just north of London.

Pimp: Hi, this is xyz from abc consulting. Just seen your CV, and have a role perfect for you.
Me: Where is it?
Pimp: Aldershot - that's London.
Me: Gasp!
Pimp: What? It's a permanent position, £35k.
