She is being held in a secure log cabin in the middle of a forest and I am going to have my way with her.
Well it does take a certain type of person to be able to look inside there own company and see errors or process that could be done better - well done.

Well you looked so stylish I thought you batted for the other camp - thats like the ultimate compliment!
I couldn't imagine you ever having a hair out of place!
"During the 4 week notice period I ask the client to send me documentation to enable me to get up to speed and hit the ground running"
Did you read this in your own time? For free? Why? Come on son, get it together.
Well it was my contract and I was a bit naive eh. I thought that well they're gonna pay me £600/day and I need to be providing value from the moment I arrive. Of course, I got there and they weren't ready to start for about 4 more weeks!

Typical. The amount of contracts I've started and I've had to wait 3 days+ for an account..
"The job was offered 3 months ago"
Is this usual? I would have thought about 4 weeks would be the max, not only because most clients would not wait much longer than that but also because most contractors would likely have found another position or circumstances would have changed
Only exception I could see is for one of those elite specialists, you know the guys with skills that maybe 5 other people in the whole world have and that charge about 5k a day
Not that I think what the fella did was right but..... I moved cities for my ex husbands career and through an agency was due to start new job on the Wednesday but split with up with ex on the Tuesday.
Despite all the cr*p I was going through, I phoned the agency (pretty much straight away) and told them I wasn't going to be starting, they went mental and I was so furious with them! I'm sure people make up excuses all the time but my excuse was real and a major life changing issue. Once I had my head togeter I e-mailed the co I was meant to work for and apologised for leaving them in the lurch and explaing the situation. I think they appreciated the effort, certainly I got a very nice e-mail back form them.
I've moved jobs a few times since then and would never use that agency again, despite them trying to cosy up to me a few times since.
So DA, whilst I do feel for you, I still hate agents!!!

He did indeed have "elite" skills which makes our performance look incredibly shoddy, and I am sure that his company offered him more to stay.
Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone
