Manchester probably got it because they've got a track record of getting things right (rebuilding City Centre, Commonwealth games / stadium, Corrie etc etc). Any projects run in London usually **** up (Dome, Wembley, Eastenders etc etc).

I can't understand why there can't be more than one though.

The cockneys won't miss out anyway. They can make a weekend of it when they come up to watch The Scum.

Blackpool is hell on earth. I've been on two stag dos there and never, ever again!

Gen Con UK 2000, August 31 - September 3, 2000, Manchester Conference Centre, Manchester, England.

The only time I've been to Manchester.

The Vampire LARP was a giggle though.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Just how much demand is there for all these casinos? I don't know anyone who particularly wants to use one.

This just sounds like another government way of fleecing people, creating a few jobs in the marginal constituencies, and collecting a few back-handers from the big casino operators!

              A tale of woe:

I used to gamble when I had a tulip job and little money to try and supplement my income, stupid dark days I know but that was years ago and since I've been earning a decent amount I have lost the urge and only bother with things like 'The Grand National' cos' everyone else does.

Well done Tony just what we need, must get all those benifits and tax credits back somehow
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”
