    Developer Laptop

I am looking to purchase a new laptop for development exclusively .NET Visual Studio 2012 SQL Server etc. Ideally it would be 17", SSD and 8GB Ram

Something from Apple would admirably fit the bill, Mr Blair...

Dell Vostro - I've got a 14" version - very nice. Though not sure if you can get ssd with it. Perhaps their higher end models come with a hybrid drive.

I have a Lenovo T420s (latest model is now T430s) with 120GB SSD however I removed the optical drive and put in a crucial M4 256 SSD. Also added another 4GB RAM. Got a few SQL2008 VMs running, it does the job.

            What's your budget? Alienware?

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

I have a Dell latitude E6520 with an 128mb ssd disk added to it. Between that and an 1080p screen it was a decent laptop but I must remember to photography it and throw it on the bay.

I do, however, prefer the macbook retina I replaced it with.

Thanks for the suggestions, looking at this

                HP SPECTRE XT TouchSmart Ultrabook

15 inch full HD touch screen, with 32GB SSD and 500 Normal, I assume I could upgrade the SSD also, 4GB ram which I would also upgrade to 16GB. Thunderbolt, Ethernet, backlight keyboard plus more.

Comes in at 1200 inc VAT.

I know you said 17" but what about one of these Lenovo carbon. It's got carbon in the name so must be good and for real men!

I have a Dell XPS 15, 512Gb SSD, 8Gb Ram, Intel I7, Nvidia GPU 1920x1080 Full HD screen.

                    Lovely kit.
