Who in their right mind would do that?

It's far better, just to knock up a page in css quickly, rather than using a blogging theme for a company site, which would just be awful ..

If you cant be bothered laying out your own page, try googling something like "free css templates", hundreds on various sites.

I took Biru for mine (two columns, widgets if I want them) and then customized it to add some new styles that I wanted.

Even if it's not being used as a blog, then I find it significantly easier to log in to a simple front-end and add new pages through that, then have to fart about with editing HTML and adding / modifying links in that.

Wordpress is a full blown CMS now not just a blogging tool, my LtdCo website is done in Wordpress and looks ok for very little effort

                I could go on.

Anyone who thinks that Wordpress is just a blogging tool clearly doesn't know what Wordpress is.

You are able to customise those themes as they are just php/html/css - so if you're not afraid of a bit of mucking about get in there.
Barring that - all the really good themes cost.

Not got the time for messing around with the internals and don't mind paying for a theme, just wanted something close to the "right" theme
