it was running windows 6.5 with HTC sense which was ok except for the fact that nobody was developing for it anymore.

Android seems perfectly happy running on the HD2, only issue is that I cannot download paid apps from the market, it just gives me "an error has occurred " message :(

Can you download them on a PC and then have them sent to your phone that way?

Alternatively, something like Android PIT might work as a workaround - not sure if they have everything in the market, but the have sometimes got things that aren't in the market (like games / cheats for games)

I'll have a look at that thanks
one thing which I still need to try though is installing an older version of market but that isn't straight forward

My Desire Z was replaced with the Samsung S2 after a week, and is now sitting in a box somewhere in the study.

(The Desire broke, so T-Mobile sent me a Desire Z as a replacement free and three days later offered me an upgrade :D)

Sell it, I think mazoomo (or whatever they're called) are paying £100+ for a desire z.

I considered that, but I like to have a decent spare in case anything happens to the new one.

When the Desire went screwy, I had to go back to my G1 which was a shock to the system.
