linux server - Accessing files remotely

People, i have a linux server that i want to use to allow me access to my home files. A VPN i suppose. However, i want to be able to do it securely over client internet (Http).

Do i assume the likes of Alfresco (SharePoint like software) will allow me to do this, or is there a different way?

    Cheers,
    G

How about a simple sftp connection - SSH File Transfer Protocol. Secure and straight forward.

Winscp would work. If you have to use a browser then could install webmin.

I normally use an FTP client like FileZilla but I think there are java alternatives for access with a browser. Webmin might be worth looking at.
