Recommendations for 'safe' performance checking software?

I don't want to use free spy-ware stuff you download from ZDnet.

My desktop has suddenly started to go dog-slow. I'm checking for viruses via F-secure security website (I have FS anti virus), but I need more..

Have you tried turning off the virus checker?

Alternatively, try Linux.

I regularly use Advanced System Care, now up to v 3.3.4. There is a paid for version but the free version suits me fine. Seems to work just fine for me too. HTH.

I already have dual boot, but I use software that needs Windoze.
