    .NET on Linux

Any options other than Mono? Anybody used it? Does it work? Is it binary compatible with the assemblies produced by standard .NET compilation? Does it have anything like NGEN or does it have to JIT?

All abuse gratefully received. Sensible answers more so.

Or my preferred option which is to install Windows on the box over the Linux.

      Are you ill. That's sensible....

Major issue I have is that it's not C# or VB though (or any Microsoft .NET language). I don't think my chances of success are high without porting it to C#, in which case I should probably just go J2EE and Java to get cross platform that way. I will download that mainsoft thing and have a play though.
