I have a 48Gb NTFS partition which the XP defrag struggles with. It will NOT defrag these files:

And it is very boring to watch compared to the old ME DEFRAG. And that wasn't as pretty as the PCToools defragger (that, sadly, was buggy and corrupted hard drives and so resulted in PCTools going down the pan and being replaced by the inferior Symantec products).

I use Advanced Windows Care v3.x regularly, part of that tool set is a defragger. How good it is I don't actually know but it's freeware, so worth a shot. HTH.

Defraggler then. Will have your disk whiter than white in no time. Run it as administrator so that it has permissions over all files on the disk.
