    Love it

Use it to chat with my cousin who lives in Maderia - sometimes just use the message facility. Had a 3-way conversation with her sster in Austrialia at Xmas and we were chatting fo about 30 mins.

Can use it fo call ' Non-skype numbers but you need to top-up your credit account to do that.

I imagine either it was free as a local call, or more likely, you get some free credit when you register which would have been used.

FWIW, when I was at Y!'s London office we used Skype both for the daily conference call for our stand-up meetings and for any other meetings, given that a number of the team were in the Grenoble office.

I also seem to recollect a company-wide (as in, all of Yahoo! worldwide) email exhorting people to use it in preference to IDD (International Direct Dialling) as a way of keeping business costs down.

Something worth noting if you have clients abroad, or have to contact clients' foreign offices from your own home/office.

I've used Skype for almost five years to call friends in Germany and Brazil without major problems. It's totally free, but it did take a while to convince people that that was the case. Its reliability has also improved dramatically since I first started using it.

I use it daily to call home when working away (in Euroland)

I have SkypeOut credit which allows me to dial UK numbers from anywhere with internet access for €0.02/min.

Call quality is generally ok these days.

              skype

I have used it for several years, 4 I think, its got better over the years for sure.
Free Skype to Skype video calls are great for keeping in contact with family.
I use Skype between our offices ( in different locations ) to talk to colleagues, but I dont use it for outgoing calls from the office.
I have used a Skype-In number and a divert from Skype to a mobile, this all worked fine too.

You can get some very decent combined Skype/DECT phones (that don't require your PC to be on) these days as well: I have the Philips VOIP841 and it's a very good piece of kit. Even more so as I got it free
