OBP Solaris

[BoredBloke]

Hi folks another one for you Solaris bods. On a solaris box, what is OBP. When you install it/update it, does it run from the hard disk or is it like flashing a BIOS - i.e. working at a lower level than this.

OBP also known as ok prompt is low level a bit like the BIOS on a PC, you use this before booting the operating system. Do a google on thinks like

boot disk1
boot cdrom
nvram
banner
setenv
printenv

To see the sort of stuff you can do. Where ever I have worked the only person dealing with this would be you Unix SA
