Text Editor

Can anybody recommend a free text editor (windows) that has a split screen capability?

I want to be able to look at two (or more) points of some code. Normally I'd do this on the websphere dev studio, but the POS computer this client has me using is not up to the task...

It's a freeware version of TextPad - seems to have more bells + whistles too.

er... the fully functional trial version is free. You are supposed to pay for it though!

If you only want to modify in one window and refer to the other, you could run up two sessions of the same editor.
Windows should recognise that the second session is accessing the same source and offer it as read-only.

Then it's only a matter of remembering which one you're modifying.

I've done this in the past with the credit editor.

Just tried it with notepad and it opened both as read-write.
