What does it mean if you say 'users will augment the data if its missing' ? What does augment mean ? Dictionary just says 'make larger' is augment another word for 'populate' ?

It means you don't know what the word "augment" means, as far as I can tell.

It sounds like the kind of thing written by somebody who thinks "Users will supply any missing data" doesn't sound enterprisey enough, so they haul some innocent word in off the street and bludgeon it into the sentence.
