    Security settings, firewalls etc

The only thing I cannot test fully in Pants UK is the auto update feature as do not have access to enough machines. Also know sweet FA about security/firewalls etc.

I have a basic FTP update feature built in to the program. They enter reg number on webtulipe page, click on update they want and it downloads self extracting zip file and bungs stuff in right subdirectories. Are some security programs likely to prevent such activity?

Users can always just download zips in normal way and it would be better not to annoy purchasers by including a feature that hardly ever works.

    Ta for any input.

Your best solution is to provide the files using the http(port 80) protocol as opposed to the ftp route (with an option for the user to use ftp if they so desire).

This link HTTP Transfer Component should provide you with some options.
