    Newbie advice - facts required!

Crikey if i was in a cushy permie number at the moment i'd be sitting on it feeling pretty pleased with myself.

    The bench beckons...

Well, i've done my 1st week on the bench. Been great really, got some garden stuff done, took the kids to the beach etc. Start a new role on Monday on my highest rate ever. It is only 4 weeks though, although it'll possibly be every day of the week. After that who knows, i'll probably need...

    SC clearance

You got someone to clear you as a contractor ? Didn't think that was possible. I always took "SC Clearance highly desirable" to mean "if you ain't got it, don't waste your time"

Is the market on the up or not ?

I'm waiting for a PO to come through for a gig that may start on Monday although there is always the risk the client may decide that they don't want this piece of work...

What counts as a good (daily) rate these days?

I don't know what his skillset is, but if its worth £200 per day contracting why do you think he'd be better off permie given that his skillset probably is paying less than £30k a year.

What counts as a good (daily) rate these days?

Nice to see someone is on the same planet as me.

What counts as a good (daily) rate these days?

Anything better than 0 is reasonable this last year.

    Time to convert

I had a role fall through because they wouldn't wait 3 weeks even though the jobspec could have been written by me, for me. It was literally perfect, and thats why i applied even though 3 weeks is a long time* They gave it to someone else who wasn't as good a fit, but could start next day. 18...

    Crap job of the day....

Saw a role today paying "around £22 per hour" which was "non-flexible" How can it be both ? Muppets. Not that i'd want to be working in the south on that rate anyway...

    So....CV honesty

Hmmmm i'm not a dev, but the thing that has prompted the question is a role that asks for experience with a certain SAN vendor. I've not seen that one, but do have lots of SAN experience in general and since they all do the same thing at the end of the day i've never had any trouble picking up...

    So....CV honesty

You are 100% right. I haven't done it and would feel wrong doing it. I do have to wonder if some time on the bench may cure me of my case of morals however.

Now would be a great time for the Argies to try invading the Malvinas again

I doubt we have that many TLAM and if they are firmly enconsed on the islands we are somewhat more likely to have to accept the status quo given that the Navy no longer has any aircraft capable of air to air combat. The whole strategy now is to keep them off the islands since once they are...

    So....CV honesty

My CV is 100% honest, with no embelishment of any sort and so far its stood me in good stead. But hypothetically if a role came up that you were 80% a good match for and you could easily learn the other 20% on the job with no problem is it a bad thing to put the 20% on your CV as something you...
