    Independent Loan Charge Review

Have you reduced your payments while you wait to hear how the review impacts your arrangements? I was told they should have given me the option to pause payments so that I could avoid possible overpayment, but they didn’t. So i have reduced my payments from £300 per month to £5 per month for the...

    Independent Loan Charge Review

I’ve had a letter saying as I have an arrangement to pay I will be prioritised and to stop payments as if I have overpaid with the new arrangements, they won’t refund any overpay. They say I should hear again in June. I have expressed my discontent about settled amounts not being looked at.

    Independent Loan Charge Review

I also settled, one as a lump sum(took a loan to pay it) and the other I'm paying off over 5 years. I called them to ask why I wasn't offered the option to stop paying while the review took place and they couldn't tell me and told me to call another department, when I tried I couldn't get...

    Umbrella if not UK resident

Hi there just thought I’d update that according to HMRC if I am not resident in the UK for tax purposes I don’t pay tax in the UK if I work for less than 6 months, UK tax only becomes payable after 6 months, so my earnings are declared locally and I pay tax where I am resident.

    Umbrella if not UK resident

Just wondering how things worked out for you? I'm in a similar situation in that I am resident for tax purposes in Guernsey and will be doing a contract in the UK where I only need to be on UK soil 50% of the working week. In terms of UK tax I am non resident there for tax purposes but need to...

Resident in Guernsey for tax purposes wanting to do contracting in UK

Thanks so much, particularly to secwombat. I wasnt specifically planning to use a Ltd Company, I was expecting to use an umbrella and stay with family while I work. Remote working in my field is uncommon as I am in the social care sector! I'm not trying to dodge tax, I just want to try and avoid...

Resident in Guernsey for tax purposes wanting to do contracting in UK

Thanks all, my reading suggests that there are tests to determine tax residency etc and also a 91 day cut off or you can get double taxed? @ Fred you say "There are hundreds of threads here asking the same question." I did a forum search using the word Guernsey before I posted and found...

Resident in Guernsey for tax purposes wanting to do contracting in UK

Good evening i moved to Guernsey a couple of years ago and am in a permanent role, but the cost of living here is causing me to explore contracting again with ample lucrative opportunities in my field. I intend to seek advice from a professional but wondered if anyone knows what the tax...

    Anyone had any interest refunds?

Thanks, that makes me really annoyed as it’s been 5 months now and they just tell me the team concerned doesn’t have a phone number….. was yours pre-Covid?? Do you recall what number you called. I am resorting to emailing daily in the hope that I will annoy them into responding. The complaint...

    Anyone had any interest refunds?

Still nothing about my refund, I have made a complaint now about their lack of response, but the complaint too has gone quiet :-) Its now almost 5 months since I settled.

    Anyone had any interest refunds?

Hi all, I settled some 8 years ahead of agreed repayment plan(which was 10 years) which I assume means I am due an advance interest refund, which I requested back in March. I've chased monthly by email to the generic email address since and been told that the team that deal with these refunds...
