Smeg Bean to Cup Coffee machine

So have we! It just goes on and on. We use Lavazza Rosso beans - makes superb coffee. Have you noticed how much the price of decent coffee beans has gone up though? Sheesh.

    Indian Visa Scheme and IR35

As I understand it, under the new visa scheme, Indian nationals will be exempt from both Employer's and Employee's NI for three years. So if they come over here and get an inside IR35 contract, they'll be quids in compared to us Brits. That can't be right surely?

    Transfer of One Share edit

All of this is sorted now - thank you for the reply. I'd done the PSC change. Apparently all I need to do is file when I do the company returns as there's no tax due. The reason for doing things this way - my daughter was on gardening leave so had to be hands off until that had finished. I...

    Transfer of One Share edit

Hi, I set up a limited company at Companies House with 1 share. I now want to transfer that share to my daughter. The company has never traded and the share is worthless. Do I need to fill out a stock transfer form and send it to HMRC? Can I do the whole thing on the Companies House website...

EV's and what's your driveway look like?

Still driving a newer Bentley with an older classic or two tucked away. Missus has a hot hatch Audi. Neither of us want to go down the electric route thank you.

What's your next career move? What's your exit strategy?

I'm 61, retired at 58, went back last year and have done the last 9 months part-time, fully remote. No mortgage, bit of a pension, most of my cash is in our house which we plan to downsize from in 5 or so years time. Once downsized will have no money worries at all. Going back stops me eating...

    Kate Cotterell

We had spoken many, many times over the years. A great loss to the contracting community. Thoughts with her family and friends at this time.

Does anyone have a recommendations for dashcams?

I've got a MiVue 330 with Speed Cam alerts & GPS. A couple of years old now. Not hardwired as I move it from car to car. What makes it for me is the software which is great in playback mode and also lets you see the G-force acting on the car in multiple directions. Recommended.

Netflix Hides all the Women in F1 Show

They had women in F1. They got rid of the pit lane girls, remember?

ER and going back to work as a sole trader.

This isn't going to work then. AIUI Working via an umbrella would be OK though?

ER and going back to work as a sole trader.

My primary distributions were made in May 2021 so in theory TAAR would apply. However, with everything I've been through I think I've got a case for TAAR not applying due to what is known as "Condition D - Intent". The intent was not to gain a tax advantage but to go perm. When that didn't work...

ER and going back to work as a sole trader.

Much appreciated. I think I'll get my dates sorted then give HMRC a call. Best to be upfront.

ER and going back to work as a sole trader.

Hi, I'd appreciate some input here. I ceased trading as a limited company in Jan 2021 and I took ER mostly as an upfront payment. The company was officially finally liquidated in May 2022 according to Companies House. I went perm Feb 2021-Nov 2021 and then fully retired - still am. I've...

What crimes would warrant the death penalty ?

The first two were cleared because of DNA which is now routine, the third is a toss-up whether it would actually be a death penalty offence. Not bothered by them or by the lackadaisical US justice system. I'm not advocating the death sentence for "routine" murder. With respect to the UK...
