This is exactly why I had been considering gong to DIY (using FreeAgent). To be honest, even the annual accounts can also be done by yourself using FreeAgent, you just need to ensure the relevant submissions are being made to CH and HMRC. If you're already comfortable with doing your own VAT...
Absolutely! I got burnt with SJD (although all things considered, managed to scrape through without too much more than extreme stress), so when I started seeing similar signs this time round it was time to pull the trigger on it.
I moved across to them around 5 years ago, through recommendation of an Accountant friend who was using them. They were reasonable enough.
Fast forward to the past year, where prices have gone up and service levels have gone down - I'm now stuck in a situation where they've been paid the full...
What good would that be anyway, Ciaran? No one answers the phone (it goes straight to voicemail) and when you leave a message, no one ever responds to it.
Bluebird Accountancy are not responding to requests via e-mail, live chat (on the website) or phone. Is there someone at Churchill Knight that can direct queries and have them respond?
For reference - there are a few scenarios where using FA isn't going to be able to submit the accounts, so in those scenarios you'll still need to go via an accountant (or some other digital way) to submit accounts...
Thanks, that's the same option I came up with as well.
The other thing you lose is someone to write up a reference letter for you (sometimes needed for contracts, sometimes for non-work related things).
How'd you get on with this? Another LtdCo owner here who has been using FA, managed by a contractor factory accountant for many years and constantly has to check/correct their work anyway. I'm confident enough of doing it myself, perhaps utilising a local accountant if/when needed for any...
Except what they send, is not all the detailed line by line transactional data that you have put in their online system.
FYI direct from the horses mouth:
The only information that is given if one moves to a new accountancy firm is the most recent accounts and corporation tax computation along...
It also looks like SJD online (online.sjdaccountancy.com) is 'back', sort of. I was in the process of moving from them anyway but this obviously sealed the deal.
All transactions that were there before it went offline, are still there. So if it was ransomware then it was a very current backup...
Nope, you seem to be missing the point here. As such, I won't engage further and you can continue to live in your own little world where you have your own reality and think that applies equally to everyone.
It may be more regular than you think, as you can see myself and one other were in a similar position the past few weeks. It seems to be helpful to give data points for others who may find themselves in a similar position. No need to be rude.
Perfect, good to know if you're in a bind and time sensitive then Pensionbee can spin up an account for you pretty quickly. I guess you can then transfer from there to your preferred SIPP provider (assuming PB is no good to hold onto longer term!).
