The gig ran out of work and funding, me and 1 other contractor getting the boot. They actually binned me last year then called me up 3 weeks later when something unexpected cropped up. Also contract is with consultancy (on top of the agent) onsite at bank, but the perm would be direct with bank...
Certainly not interesting, maybe relevant. That time there was a perm role that looked like it could be more useful long term than my current contracting work was. Looked into it, ended up deciding against doing anything and stayed on that contract for another year so.
This time around the...
Been contracting for a short while, a little over 3 years. One short 3 month contract on 400pd, another 15 month at 400. Both of those were a bit of a grab for anything following a redundancy just after buying a house, thus no warchest. Current place is 18 months old at 540 and everything's a...
Why?
That's specifically why I mentioned Foxtons. An established, professional (ok, Foxtons) company whose job it is to provide realistic estimates on the value of a property.
He doesn't go out of his way to point out the cracks in the wall, or that leaky tap (like he wouldn't if selling...
Dredging the thread I know, but
What if he went to Foxtons and obtained a hugely optimistic valuation, then based the purchase price on that. Independent valuation = fair price?
At the point his company sold the property they might find that the taxable profits aren't as large as they might...

Contract specifies the margin and the day rate separately and the client, agency and myLtdCo all sign that contract.
Though the contract looks as though it's written as an agreement between me and the agent, but...
Got a new gig at fairly short notice and received the contract yesterday.
Client is a large consultancy. Contract is with a small agent.
Contract states that I invoice the client direct, but all other communication is via the agency.
I've had no reason to think there's anything underhand but...
I'm quite happy with the idea of being a contractor. If I wasn't then I'd have taken the offer of a perm role at the consultancy I'm contracting at. Or the last perm offer at the last contract. But neither were the right role and neither would have been useful long term, they'd just have been a...
Newbie to all this and looking for an opinion or two...
I'm 4 months into a 6 month contract at a bank, via a recruiter/consultancy (body shop). It's not overly interesting and I'd leave at the end if I get anything better. I've got a 6 month 'non solicitation of client' clause.
I've seen a perm...
