Looking for an alternative accountant. Recommendations?

I recently moved to Gorilla and so far I have found them to be very good compared to my previous experience with Boox. You get your own dedicated accountant which i understand is not the case with the majority of specialist contractor firms Sent from my SM-N960F using Contractor UK Forum...

    Going perm... for now

Ltd Co being set to dormant status by my accountant who's charging 50% fees going forward while I start the perm contract. I want the option to return to contract at some point so no plans to close but question is do I really need to be paying an accountant at all? Plus given that the last...

    Contract or SOW?

Taking on a couple of direct projects likely to last just a few days each. Quick question... do i need to provide a full IR35 friendly contract or will a SOW suffice? Thanks Sent from my SM-N960F using Contractor UK Forum mobile app

    Free agent Metro Bank integration

My new accountant suggests I change my bank account away from Metro bank who I've been with for years as there is no integration with Free Agent. Anyone else had to do this or can you offer any advice? Thanks Sent from my SM-N960F using Contractor UK Forum mobile app

    Anyone with Gorilla Accounting?

Currently with Boox Accounting and it's likely that due to lack of contract work I may need to put the Ltd company into Dormancy. Boox are charging same price for Active as Dormant which I'm not happy with. They're also not very good accountants which doesn't help. I'm looking at On Touch as...

    IR35 delayed

Well it took a worldwide pandemic to get there but it's just been announced... IR35 changes delayed for a year! Let's hope they conduct a proper review so that whoever is still alive 12 months from now can benefit! Sent from my SM-N960F using Contractor UK Forum mobile app

    Data Privacy fee

It's not in relation to any particular client. It's just a letter sent to my business direct from the ICO to my accountant Sent from my SM-N960F using Contractor UK Forum mobile app

    Data Privacy fee

Today I received a letter from the ICO saying I may need to pay £40 as my ltd co handles client data. As a contractor I've never been asked to pay this before. Apparently I could be fined £4,000 if I don't pay. Anyone else paid for this? Sent from my SM-N960F using Contractor UK Forum mobile app

Oil and gas sector - IR35

I spent 6 months contracting for Shell. My contract was outside IR35 but there wasn't a single person in the entire building who knew what IR35 was. It was filled with permietractor tax Dodgers, chained to their desks for years! This is the very reason for the change in the law. Me? I was...

Agent blanketing all contractors INSIDE IR35

I can't believe what I've just read... A recruitment agency, ironically named Stopgap has posted on LinkedIn to say that ALL Ltd co contractors will automatically be deemed inside IR35 after 6th April! I can just about understand clients taking this stance (in the short term) but what hope is...

    IR35 question

Thanks for your help. All sorted now. QDOS were great as they intervened and I then emailed the client to put their mind at rest. They now understand the substitution clause and are willing to abide by it and have the contract wording changed. Unfortunately the agent sat on this for weeks...

    IR35 question

The issue is that the end client were consulted by the agency. They said they don't mind the changes being made to the document but they do not accept that a substitute may actually be used. The agency's legal team therefore won't now make the changes to the contract. Sent from my SM-N960F...

    IR35 question

Contract offered for 6 months by agent stating outside IR35 working in an organisation with very few if any Ltd co contractors. Basic review by accountant states they are confident that the contract looks outside IR35. Went to QDOS for a formal review and they queried the substitution clause...
