sadly selling the NZ house wont trigger a refund, i'm told (as its not a main residence, ive never lived in it.). Nor would selling the new UK house within 3 years.
Hi,
Sorry if this isnt really the right spot for this - but maybe some people can advise as things arent looking good.
I personally own a rental property in NZ (bought 2015 - never lived in it). In 2017 my wife and I sold our flat ('main residence') in London as we thought we would leave the...
its probably the interest that accumulated before the APNs were paid.
re: if I read correctly, pulling out of settlement with HMRC.... one thing to consider is that the settlement you have agreed is probably under the Nov 2017 settlement offer package. If you decline it - any future settlement...
NS&I just nerfed return on premium bonds (and all other products) though. Although that doesnt make your points invalid.
I have a question: Some share platforms (AJ Bell / H&L etc) charge a commission / fee when you buy a share on their platform. Other outfits (Trading 212) claim to not charge...
Thanks @Webberg - interestingly though, the covering letter to the settlement offer I received in March 2019 definately does not contain that wording around 'Offering to Settle for a different amount'... so if it is now common, it must of been a more recent addition to the text? also their...
yeah I mean, I guess I'm so worn down by this whole HMRC narrative that I had just come to accept I was eventually going to have to pay them what they asked for. So I'm just a bit taken back if there is a different approach on the cards. The thing driving this along is obviously that utlimately...
it just confuses me (a lot) since all along my understanding from them was 'this is the basis of our settlement offer - take it or get stuffed'... but now they are implying you can make an offer? I just dont get it. If they arejust going to say 'no' to whatever I offer, why give a whiff of it?
Hi all,
Received latest settlement calculations a month or so ago. Agreed them via return of their form (had to argue IHT which they continued to roll up during LC review period but they 'corrected' it eventually). Now recieved actual settlement offer for me to sign (by 7/8/2020). The offer and...
you only need to declare the loans on your SA return if hey are inscope following the ruling.... so loans pre Dec 10th 2010 are out of scope. And ones after then are inscope but subject to conditions.
I think another reason for the Sep deadline is some of these litigation cases are going back...
Hi Accountants,
My accounttant is preparing my final ltd co accounts at the moment ahead of me passing it to the MVLers.
During the last year, for some reason HMRC refunded my company about £1k in VAT which is sitting as part of my business current account balance.
My accountant seems a...
I also just received the latest brown envelope. I had signed the settlement offer last year and sent it back to them (had agreed the IHT + tax etc). Was waiting for their final acceptance letter (in the mean time the trustees released the loans.......HMRC dont know this) which never arrived -...
I assume the govts stance on ER hasnt changed? It occurs to me that for those looking to MVL... we dodged a bullet with ER in the last announcement.... they could very well fully kill ER next time around so maybe better (if the ER is worth it to you) to go down the MVL path now rather than keep...
hi all
I'm in a similar position to a lot of people - forced into umbrella and was going to do ER to close the company etc which we now have to await 11/3 to see whats happneing...
Anyway, I was wondering if others had heard of / had warnings about this process which has been suggested to me...
