Planning to buy a desk and chair for work from home. This is solely for work but the umbrella can't treat this as a business expense claiming they can't prove that this expense is wholly and exclusively for business. Is this acceptable? How can I prove that its a valid expense.
First time contributing to pensions. It's still hazy for me. So, please tell me if I got this right.
If my umbrella pays into my SIPP, I'm saving on the employers NI and reduced taxable income, but won't receive any tax reliefs.
If I pay this myself from the net pay, I'm paying more taxes...
Thanks all.
I never received an SDS. Only verbal communication as far as i can remember. The ones joined recently confirmed their contract is Outside IR35. Not sure if they got an SDS. I know their work is exactly same as mine but with some supervision as they joined mid project.
I think I'll...
Thoughts please.
Been on an Inside role for almost an year now - with multiple extensions. I'm content with the project & client - until today. I came to know that other contractors who joined recently to perform the same work were given an Outside IR35 decision.
I was the first contractor in...
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I guess I wont be asking for an increase. I'd rather finish this project than take on a different one at higher rate.
I like the current project. Somehow I find it difficult to secure a role and then not take it. I have very niche skillset that is very important to the current project. Assuming that they'll most likely agree to a reasonable increase, is 10% too high or acceptable? (I'm on £500/day). I believe...
Hi,
I'm fairly new to contracting. Have switched couple of times and didn't really have to renegotiate my day rate for a contract. Been in the current contract for an year now & the extension date is approaching.
As you already know, cost of living has drastically increased and the NI...
1. Didn't think much of 'cosmetic', removed.
2. Car insured for social & commute to work.
3. Not my fault. Happened while it's parked so no idea what happened.
My personal car got minor damage while parked at a client location. As one of the handles got damaged partially, I have to get it fixed else it'll fail MOT on safety concerns. I couldn't find any clear guidance on whether this is an allowable expense for the company. The very little I have seen...
It is a solid offer from the client, everything is set to start if this is sorted. I'll be honest, have no idea about opting out of agency conduct regulations. I signed only the contract & below is the only relevant clause I can find. I guess I did not opt-out then?
he/she will at all times...
It's me who wants to go direct as the last contract through them was a nightmare. Was given a lot of false promises and always cornered me into situations where I had to agree to lower than expected rates or risk going out of work for a few months. I work in a niche area and is not as easy to...
The agency still has a relationship with the client & they do have their employees working there. So, they'll definitely know. The client does not seem to have any problem hiring me as they are the ones that contacted me and are still interested even after mentioning this term.
My question is...
Hello everyone,
Hope you all enjoyed your holiday break!
Can someone please clarify this for me? I have an opportunity with a past client to go direct but the last agency contract has a restriction term:
The Contractor shall not at any time during the Contract Period or within the period of...
