Another day done. I returned to ClientGov to find several queries about the thing I’m not even supposed to be working on any more, which did little to increase my limited Monday morning enthusiasm :ohwell

One turned out to be something I’m not even sure was my responsibility when I was working on it; either way, it needs somebody to get somebody else to do something, so I’ll wait and see if somebody else does that first. The other, once I’d got my head started up enough to look into it, turned out to be a simple matter of giving the enquirer a link to where they could download exactly the data they needed, so that one turned out quite well :)

This morning, I finally got around to fixing my desk chair, largely because I couldn’t get the old one set up comfortably :ohwell

And just now, I stuck a small bit (10” x 8”, or quarto in old paper sizes) of self-adhesive whiteboard to the fridge door. I’m fed up of having to go through all the stuff in there to check the use-by dates when deciding what to have for dinner, so I can now write them on there and quickly see that the chops need to be eaten, or I can leave them a couple more days and have something else, and so on :)

Tonight’s reading was more of Inspector Imanishi Investigates. I’m enjoying this. Though there isn’t as much about train timetables as in Tokyo Express, there are several interesting subjects coming into play, such as whether one region of Japan has a dialect that could be mistaken for that of another. And there was a brief mention of bus timetables, which I suspect will become more significant later :)

Goodnight all  :tired

Morning.

Tuesday apparently.

Dry.

Sunny.

Blue sky.

Frost on the cars.

14.7 deg in here, 14.3 in the kitchen, 10 in the leanto, 6 out the back.

1030 mbar, 30.4 in Hg, 772.6 Torr, 14.94 psi, (down from 1031.5 last night), 66% RH (Lidl electric).

Entertainment: Jack Hargreaves Old Country: flora & fauna on Berkshire Downs. Breeds of cattle.

Part Two of the washing frenzy: everything out on the line & it's blowing a bit with a breeze. Had to do it today since I've run out of socks: those M&S socks don't last the way they used to. And now I can't buy any more it's problematic.

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in the sunshine followed by grey gloom. Two conversations. I seem to have acquired LLs of the xogg sorority. :eyes.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: more of that thing on R4 about Conan Doyle & Dr Bell.

Dashcam bollox S6 E7.

R4 thing about 1956, Hungary, Egypt, the Suez canal, Mr Nasser, our Glorious Leader, the French, and the Israelis. You'd have thunk that such a short time after the King David Hotel & the hanging of the sergeants that "we" might have been a bit fecking less keen but there you go.

Shirts in off the line & duly iRoned, during which they did steam a bit, not being fully dry since a) it wasn't sunny enough and b) it wasn't windy enough either. Everything in & airing upstairs. I suppose I'll have a pair of socks dry enough to wear tomorrow. :eyes.

Alaska Homestead Rescue: Virginia: half built cabin, garden that died, well that dried up. They put a roof on the cabin. Dug a new well, installed water line 2 feet down. New water pump. New pressure tank in the cabin. New 5kW solar panels installation ($33k!). Chicken run on wheels. Raised bed garden. Hunting hide shaped as an icosahedron for use by the lady using a compound bow. Whatever floats your boat. The calcs for the icosahedron were wrong so Matt had to frig about with the roof to make it fit. Bow & arrow is quieter than a rifle.

Tea: soup etc. Entertainment: PM. More waffle about the Orange Mother****er.

Cartrefi Cymru: Hay on Wye. Yng Nghymraeg.

Bab5 S5 E18 "The fall of Centauri Prime". Oh dear, how sad, never mind. Poor old Londo.

Thing about D. H. Lawrence. <click>

Who do you think you are? Billy Connolly.

Morning denizens

It hasn’t fallen over yet then?

It’s quite a sunny morning here, at least to start with. Cloudier later, though it looks like we should get sunny spells for most of the day. Definite nip in the air though: it’s 7°C but “feels like” 3°, with an expected high of 12°. The barometers retain their optimism, staying roughly steady at 1024/1032mB :glasses

Anybody tried the inline spoiler yet? There’s also:

The block-level spoiler! :eek

Afternoon all, Budapest calling, local time 13:34

Dull and cloudy, spits of rain. Currently 9 degrees and that's the high for the day. Barometer at 1023 mBar.

Sunrise 06:29; Sunset 16:23 CET

It's been a busy few days.

Sunday - up early to take HWMBO to the airport. He is taking the long way home to Glasgow via Amsterdam, Krakow, and Madrid and won't get home until tomorrow. I then headed down South to spend the day with Mum. On getting home, I had to pack for a trip to Budapest with a friend of mine who wanted a taste of what a points run is like. By the time I'd say down, the forum was offline for it's update.

Monday - up early to head to the airport and meet my friend. We flew to Budapest via Brussels. Despite an incident on one of the runways at Heathrow leading to a delayed departure, we comfortably made our connection. Dinner, cocktails, bed.

Today - we had a mooch around Budapest looking at the sights before taking the express bus back to the airport. Today we are flying home via Vienna. Due to a schedule change, we have 4 hours in Vienna which isn't quite enough time to get into the city due to the express train currently being a bus.

Afternoon gang

Oooooh, this looks shiny. Nice work Nick!

Lunch was veg stew from the freezer. It was CBS outside until about 10 minutes ago and now there's an ominous-looking bank of black cloud.

Hitting the TOGAF books this afternoon - what fun this is...
HWMBO teaches TOGAF he's great fun at parties :D
