:yay: Bravo

Morning all

Dull, damp. Currently 11 degrees ('feels like' 9) with a high of 17 expected. Drizzle forecast for most of the morning. Barometer at 1010 mBar.

Sunrise 06:44; Sunset 16:46 GMT

We were a little delayed leaving Paris yesterday afternoon. French customs boarded the plane and removed a couple of people. Then one of them came back and extracted a third person. The Captain had a chat with the officers to determine, I presume, any risk to the flight operating. On arrival at Heathrow we were met by UK Border Force who were checking passports as we got off the plane.

Morning denizens

It’s grey and rainy, or at least drizzly, out there this morning. Still a bit of a breeze too, though nowhere near as strong as yesterday. But the balmy 10°C “feels like” 3°, although we’ll get a high of 16° late in the afternoon when the rain has stopped and just the high wind remains, and it won’t get below 13° overnight. The barometers are at 996/1004mB, though I wasn’t able to get a local reading yesterday due to being in Derbyshire, so I don’t know if that’s up, down, or steady :grey

Weather back down to grotty land after a nice sunny yesterday. Yesterday's music event with new NOT loony lady was nice yesterday, we'll be going out together again.

Lunch has been Heinz tomato soup with white toast :tongue

This is a small white loaf I bought at Chatsworth, which saves me making one. I need to work out how to adjust the recipe to make my white loaves a little denser - not much, but they’re a tad too aerated using the default settings :)

Picked Loony Lady 1 up from Gatwick, pick up parking was a nightmare, went round all 6 (I think) floors and not a single space. Luckily saw someone leaving just as I was about to exit. How can it be so crowded at this time of year?

Tea has been a Chatsworth pork chop with chips and beans. Very tasty :tongue

To go with it, an episode of the Geordie Coppers thing on All4 :bluelight

I finished reading Tokyo Express tonight. Excellent crime thriller, and very educational on the subject of railways in 1950s Japan - there’s even a note at the end stating that all the details were taken from the actual timetables in the year it was written :yay:

It’s very windy again :tumble:

Rain due in a few hours too. But it’s also very mild at 15°C :)

Goodnight all  :tired

Morning.

Tuesday.

Damply dry.

Blue sky.

Hints of rosy dawn.

16 deg in here, 16.1 in the kitchen, 14 in the leanto, still no screw for the out the back thermometer.

1000 mBar, 29.53 in Hg, 750.2 Torr, 14.5 psi, (up from 995 last night), 69% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 7th of April 2020, between 13:58 and 14:06, in popped Brillo, LM, NF, and me.

Entertainment: Old Country with Jack Hargreaves: sheep auction, shepherd's crook, thing for protecting sheep's teeth. David Boag, the chap who photographed kingfishers went on to photograph little grebes/dabchicks.

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked, initially in blue skies & sunshine, latterly in grey skies and rain. Just as well I took the brolly.

Entertainment: thing on R4 about Billy Wilder. As in "I'm still a star, the films got smaller".

Dashcam bollox S6 E2.

Alaska Homestead rescue: Oregon. Another one with a creek running through the middle, effectively built on, yes, a flood plain. Chap had electrocuted himself, was dead for a number of minutes, resussed, then when recovered proceeds to drop a concrete block on his knee which forces the bones in his lower leg through his ankle, which must have stung a bit. Halfway through Matt had to attend to a family emergency so he left. Bridge across creek repaired. Oregon laws don't allow construction within 100? yds of said creek which previous owner had ignored so house had to be torn down. They used the remaining foundations as a turkey run. Made two greenhouses (to get in under the laws about size of constructions), and moved a shed to use it as a sheep pen. 3 months later it looked like it was quite successful.

New series of Cartrefi Cymru: Blaenau Ffestiniog. Yet another place with a fine history behind it.

Bab5 S5 E13 "The corps is Mother, the corps is Father": Bester's back. The corps in question being the Psi Corps.

Who do you think you are?: Reggie Yates (who the feck is he? Askin' for a friend). Still no idea who he is, but he has a rather complicated ancestry resulting from colonial Ghana (Goldcoast as it was then aka The Whiteman's Graveyard): one ancestor by the name of Lloyd, another with the name Yates.
