Seriously, if the Scots do vote for independence and national flags are to be changed, I'd say their flag should be a union jack with a thistle in the middle, and the British flag a union jack with a lion or the usual three lions passant guardant in the middle (and the Welsh could have yet another union jack, with a leek in the middle
).
