Fights breaking out over discounts in the shops. What in heaven's name is going on? Is this the level of materialism that's infested society? People actually fighting with each other to get discounted consumer goods?

They've figured out that no one has any cash left after Xmas. The new plan is to get them before they have time to blow their last pay packet before xmas on anything else.Originally posted by zeitghostIs this any different from the mayhem in what used to be the January sales?Comment

It's the day after Thanksgiving in the US, which makes sense as it means cashing in on peoples' desire to do anything to get away from their family - much like Boxing Day sales here. It's also a holiday. I don't understand why we're having it here on a work day; I guess with halloween and now Black Friday, it's only a matter of time until we start celebrating Thanksgiving too. Will work inside IR35. Or for food.Comment
