At last got a contract offer good rate starting ASAP!

Will have to put up with tortuous public transport for 90 mins each way but I'm fine with that and if it gets too bad I'll give notice on my 1 room in a shared house and move closer.

Next steps - pick ltd co name, sign up with accountants, get bank a/c and insurances in place.

Its my first contract through an agent, all previous one were direct with client - I await their contract to review....

even better news and wow - no upfront fees on company formation through the accountant as the agency I am going through have some kind of deal with them.

so I don't have to borrow money to set up the company :-)
