How does rep work then?
I know I can give rep (by clicking on a user's rep star), and I can see what rep I've received, and rep "score" (under settings). But I can't see anyone elses's score.
I didn't know this was a competition - I'm going to have to start being nice to people nowComment

you can sort the result by rep. It won't tell you how much everyone has (That privilege is restricted to myself and a couple of other people) but it will tell you who has the most and who has more than you.Coffee's for closersComment

I was at 28th position this afternoon.
But now, courtesy of negative rep by NorthernLadUK to my post in this thread I appear to have slipped down to 30th position
Still all's fair in love and rep war..Comment

Surely there it is not beyond the wit of man to create a system where readers can register a thumbs up/down a particular post rather than rep the person? Something like "The Register"/Daily Hate Mail has which records both up and down votes rather than then cancelling each other out like the BBC system does. It will also benefit your forum because people can easily see what is rated as good advice (at least in the opinion of other posters here) and what is dross. Heck, even link it to the search engine for extra value.
Plus some personal rep system to fuel those with ego problems and/or too much time on their hands.Free advice and opinions - refunds are available if you are not 100% satisfied.Comment

I think the rep system works well, you just have to invert the results. Most people at the top are rep whores and post things they think will get them rep, they also have quid pro quo relationships between posters/sockies.
The ones with low rep are likely to be people who say it how it is with no agenda and no sockie rep support system. They will usually be the target of a teabagger party neg rep campaign.
