If the Man. United fans showed as much energy in opposing gas hikes as they did Mr. Glazer - maybe the government would think about reducing the fuel duty...which alone is more than the Canadian's pay for a litre.

But then the yob's wouldn't get their weekly "salary", then they'd really be riots.

I heard on radio this morning that the average is 86.0p per litre and the highest recorded average was 86.5p - most garages I noticed on my way home were showing 88.9p. $60+ a barrel was mentioned iirc

The main gripe during the last fuel dispute was that GB had left the tax escalator (??) introduced by the tories in place. Since then petrol taxes have only been in line with inflation (I think) and road tax actually dropped for some cars.

I am not sure, but I think fiddle just said something slightly favourable to the government. I suggest that nobody speak to him or even acknowledge his existence until he repents.

I hope it is perfectly clear to all CUK regulars that, without tax, fuel would be free or even that they would pay us to take it away. Without tax, using it would vastly reduce greenhouse gases and very soon we would have Blue Whales merrily disporting themselves in the Medway.
