Labour ditches Blackpool for "a modern city in its own image"

Labour has ditched Blackpool for conferences in favour of Manchester, a city it sees as "a metaphor for New Labour". A senior Labour source said "Manchester is modern and has all sorts of things going for it, like the new sports facilities for the Commonwealth Games, Canal Street which shows diversity and inclusion, and Urbis, the museum of the modern city."

Would have thought they'd have gone for Islington or Highgate. Good diversity of expensive, trendy restaurants, nice pavement cafe culture and very inclusive for wealthy lawyers and Grauniad readers.
